HH Princess Abeer S. bin Farhan Al Saud has 20 years of experience in social impact roles, spanning multilateral settings, sustainability, peacebuilding, development agencies, and nonprofit organizations. She is dedicated to supporting global peace, cultural and sustainability projects.
During her time as Director of European Countries Department at the Gulf Cooperation Council, Abeer played a key role in spearheading and leading development policies to the six member states at the GCC. Some of her advocacy accomplishments include, the establishment of a peacebuilding unit by a royal decree in Saudi Arabia, contributing to UN resolution 1325 by involving 40% of female attendees to all the peacebuilding workshops she led and promoting awareness and adherence to international benchmarks of humanitarian aid and development assistance and the endorsement of the UN’s SDG 8.6 to combat modern slavery and human trafficking, the establishment of the Saudi secretariat to combat human trafficking.
In her role as the chair of The Sustainable Development Association (talga), Abeer works on culturalizing and localizing the sustainable development goals and emphasizing the interplay between culture, sustainability and peace nexus in aiding economic development within communities – all in alignment with Vision 2030 and Saudi development agendas.
All work, both advisory and in the field, is accomplished through Dinar, a boutique advisory and the collective impact umbrella of the wider portfolio of endeavors that Abeer is promoting driven to raise global awareness about “collective regeneration”.
On a personal level, She has a passion to preserving endangered species and a dream to create a gallery for that purpose. Additionally, Abeer is a multi-faceted creative, inspired by her surroundings and what she calls her “Cosmic Desert” adventures in Saudi and throughout Arabia, she produces art on canvas utilising the available natural reusable materials. She is also a certified RYA Day Skipper sailor, a horse rider, an experienced hiker, and a collector of Indochina/Contemporary Islamic art.
