Dr. P.R. Weerathunga attained his bachelor’s degree in accountancy and finance from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka in 2009. He subsequently achieved a master’s degree in financial mathematics from Moratuwa University in 2015. He received his PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan, P.R. China in 2020.
At present, Dr. Weerathunga is a Senior Lecturer affiliated with the Department of Accountancy and Finance in the Faculty of Management Studies at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
His scholarly pursuits are oriented towards diverse areas of interest. These encompass the study of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) adoption, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Issues, as well as Environmental Accounting and Firm Performance. Dr. Weerathunga is also deeply involved in the integration of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methodologies, such as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), into performance assessment frameworks.
Dr. Weerathunga’s academic contributions are manifest in the form of over 15 original research articles. Notably, eight of these articles have secured publication in journals indexed within the SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) or SSCI (Social Sciences Citation Index) databases. Distinguished journals such as Sustainability, Sage Open, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation, and Tourism Management Perspective have served as vehicles for disseminating his research findings. Furthermore, Dr. Weerathunga’s research undertakings extend to active participation in both national and international conferences, wherein he shares his insights with the scholarly community.
